Minus7, market leaders in hybrid low cost low carbon heating and hot water technology, has won two prestigious awards on the same day for their innovative ideas to transform the UK energy market.
Commercial Low Carbon Star of the Future at CleanTech Innovate
Showcasing the Commercial Low Carbon Stars of the Future, CleanTech Innovate presented Hamish Wilson, CEO of Minus7, with “Best Renewable Energy Pitch Award.” Now in its 4th year, CleanTech Innovate celebrates the very best of green industry innovation in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Switzerland. Judging criteria included demonstrating a strong IP and investability with particular relevance to the venture capital and angel investor community. As one of 160 entrants, this win represents an enhanced level of recognition for Minus 7 as a commercially viable low carbon heating technology existing today that can be deployed at scale without further research and development investment.
Winner of the Verdantix Energy Innovation Awards for Public Sector with Poole Housing Partnership
At the prestigious Verdantix Energy Innovation Awards, Minus7 was again recognised, this time as key technology provider to the public sector entrant, Poole Housing Partnership. With a successful micro-district heating system operating in two 3-bedroom semi-detached houses, happy tenants now have consistent heating and hot water for less than £200 a year thanks to Minus7. Poole Housing Partnership has been so impressed with the system they have now agreed to another development beginning later this year.
Hamish Wilson, CEO, was delighted at the news: “Heat is a big part of decentralising and decarbonising the UK energy system – winning alongside Sainsburys, Barclays, Broadgate Estates, EDF Energy and Ovo Community Energy, The Energy Innovation Awards is a great opportunity to showcase our technology and we are honoured to be named as key technical provider for Poole Housing Partnership. Likewise CleanTech Innovate is rapidly becoming a key indicator of future commercial success for low carbon technologies and we look forward to seeing our technology becoming standard in UK buildings in the future.”
With an installation recently highlighted as one of the Top 60 developments in 2015 by Inside Housing, Minus7 adds these two awards to others they have won including The Energy Awards “Energy Efficiency Product of the Year 2014” rewarding their achievement for cutting emissions and leading the way in innovative energy generation. With their latest building-integrated hybrid system design being launched at EcoBuild 2016, Minus7 will be able to go even further in alleviating fuel poverty and significantly reduce demand on the National Grid.
